She worked for Welch Foods Inc. in North East for several years. She was a leader with the Girl Scouts of America and a member of the Wattsburg Hose Co. Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Canfield; a son, Kenneth Canfield; and a sister, Beverly Mattis (d 7/06/1996 age 59).
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth A. Canfield, whom she married Jan. 3, 1942; her stepmother, Edna Doolittle of North East; a daughter, Sandra Gatti and her husband, James, of Wattsburg; a sister, Barbara Krebs and her husband, Tyler, of Jamestown, N.Y.; a half brother, Douglas Monroe of Florida; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Lowville Cemetery.
